Story

Hey everyone, as you may know, I was diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome in October 2021 and left my physical rehabilitation hospital in February 2022. I was fully paralysed by this condition and I am fortunate enough to now count myself as fully recovered. This was a challenge I could never have predicted facing in my life. So, to challenge myself further (and possibly to spite a doctor who told me I'd never be an athlete again...) I have signed up to run the 2023 Edinburgh Half Marathon for Macmillan Cancer Support (please see my other fundraiser for this cause). I would be so grateful if you could take the time to sponsor me and to motivate me in my training. I have additionally set up this fundraising page for GAIN charity (which is an organisation dedicated to helping people affected by Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), CIDP, and the associated inflammatory neuropathies) as I want to continue to support those less fortunate than myself who are living with consequent disabilities as a result of this condition. If you could give anything at all to either of these fantastic causes I would be extremely grateful. Please also send your support to my amazing, ambitious friends Amelia Lockhart-Hourigan and Olivia Kehoe who will be running it with me! Thank you :)

About the charity

GAIN is dedicated to helping people affected by GBS, CIDP and the associated inflammatory neuropathies. We provide information and support to patients and their families, raise awareness of the conditions amongst medical and social care professionals, and help to fund and facilitate research.
