I have just come back from spending time with the children and teachers at the Bright Sparks School. The school not only provides the children with an education but gives them the chance to have a childhood, build on positive experiences and memories. Without the school the children would face a childhood of further deprivation and work. We currently have 100 children attending school with a further 8 older children being funding to attend a local mainstream school.

As the school has developed we have moved to larger premises and employed more teachers.   The school now has a settled, structured and organised feel to it. In addition the teachers are committed to the school and build close relationships with the children, who when they start school need a lot of nurturing and encouragement.  

 

To ensure the school continues to stay open the Bright Sparks Team increasingly have a challenge to raise the money needed to run the school.

 

That's why this year I am taking on a huge challenge myself by taking part in the 54 mile, London - Brighton Bike Ride. I have never attempted anything like this before and have no doubt this will be a tough experience for me. Knowing people are prepared to support the school will give me the incentive to keep going.
