Mike died in March 2013,at the age of 62, after a four year battle against cancer. He was an amazing vital man who lived his life to the full. When he received his diagnosis in 2009 we didn't know how long he had to live. He said to me 'this is our life now Gail and we have to make every moment left count' . He set out to make as many memories as possible for me to look back on and eventually enjoy. Mike had his stomach removed in November 2011 and after a couple of months of recuperation and sheer determination on his part he managed to ride his motorcycle for a further 6 months.

We will never understand why he suffered with this rare cancerous tumour and can only hope that GIST UK can continue with research that one day may allow other patients to have their questions answered
