Bedford Hospital Charity & Friends raises funds to purchase both large and small items for Bedford Hospital. Over the last 30 years we have raised over £10million. The latest appeal is for £1million to create a new, dedicated A & E for Children and install a CT Scanner in the A & E Department

Story

We will be fundraising for 'The Bedford Hospitals Charity' which helps fund amazing projects within Bedford hospital, including the Macmillan Primrose unit, the purchasing of new MRI scanners and improving and upgrading the Maternity Unit, amongst many other worthwhile fundraisers.

Gareth - On a personal level the hospital has played a vital part in mine and my familys life with many projects funded by 'The Bedford Hospitals Charity' directly involved.

The hospital has not only safely delivered both of my children, but has also been crucial in taking care of my Mum in the past 12 months.

Last year my mum had to begin treatment for Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, in the form of regular, high dose chemotherapy. Mum was incredible throughout her treatment. The care received by all at the Primrose Unit has been fantastic and has made everything easier for my family and Mum, knowing she has been in such good hands.

The treatment was successful but unfortunately only weeks later Mum was diagnosed with another form of cancer which required a day in surgery, multiple weeks in recovery and lots of further follow up care and treatment. Again this has been provided by Bedford hospital.

To raise money Myself, James and Ricky will be completing the 'National Three Peaks Cycle Challenge' in a gruelling three days.

Day 1- Beginning in Wales with an early start and the ascent of Snowdon (3560 ft.), approximately a 7 mile trek. Then straight onto the bikes for 157 miles, crossing into England and heading towards the Lake District.

Day 2 - A 'short' 37 mile ride from the accommodation to Scafell Pike (3209 ft.)and the tricky 9 mile trek up Englands highest point. Followed by 128 miles back in the saddle up into Scotland to just outside of Glasgow.

Day 3 - Setting off on the tough final stretch on the bikes, a mere 116 hilly miles. Finishing off with the final climb, that of Ben Nevis (4413 ft.) a 9 mile trek up Britains highest mountain.

This totals an incredible 438 miles on the bike and 25 miles hiking.

Any support will be much appreciated, no matter how big or small.
