Story

“We thought that he would never be able to speak to us... Nor, more importantly, would he ever be able to hear us tell him we love him.” Parent of profoundly deaf little boy.The Elizabeth Foundation (TEF) helps deaf babies and pre school children learn to listen and speak. We are there to support and inform families from the moment their child is diagnosed with any degree of hearing loss. This year over 80 babies, toddlers and pre-school children will attend specialist education programmes and get individual speech and language therapy.

Ella was born profoundly deaf and has been going weekly to the Elizabeth Foundation where they have helped her to develop early listening and communication skills that will help her to speak. They have also provided us with great support as a family on how to help her at home, manage her hearing aids and answer so many questions. One of their main sources of income through events has dried up so we want to help them to survive to continue to help Ella and all the other children it supports.

This weekend Ollie and Charlotte will be biking and walking 26 times around Teddington,  Ella will be doing tummy time (which she loathes!) for 2.6 minutes each day and we will learn 26 new signs of BSL.

About the charity

The Elizabeth Foundation is a Family Centre with baby, toddler and pre-school sessions for deaf children and their families.
