The Inferno 2023 · 21 January 2023
Rather madly we have decided to race in the 'longest and oldest downhill ski race in the world', known as The Inferno, for the DHO, a club based in Wengen where we both grew up skiing. The current record time to complete is just over 13 minutes, but we predict it will take us about 20-30 minutes. The race has been in Henry’s sights for a number of years, however Harriet has been roped into fill a space at the last minute!
We wanted to do a fundraiser as a bit of motivation towards our training programme in the lead up to the ‘crazy’ race. Protect Our Winters is an extremely worthy cause, and one that we both have a keen interest in. It is commonly known as the voice of outdoor sports enthusiasts with regard to climate change issues globally. This is particularly relevant in terms of skiing, especially in Wengen where the vast majority of runs are sub-2000m and therefore in great danger of not having enough snow in the near future. Aside from other important projects, POW’s great aim is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and we hope that you can join us in helping them towards this!!
PS. The more we raise the more likely it is for one of us to take a go-pro down as a bit of quality entertainment
