Iain, a racing kayaker in his youth convinced me to enter the DW 4 years ago. A snow storm and subsequent lock downs put our endeavour on hold.

 Last year we managed to source a K2 kayak from Swindon Fire Station (payment for which went to their Fire Service charity).  With a boat to train in and despite both of us having busy family commitments and hectic jobs we managed to eek out some time to do a bit of training, mostly in the dark and twilight of 5.30am! Probably not enough training.  A decidedly mad endeavour from Hampton Court to Erith gave us the prerequisite experience we needed to sign up for the race.

We now just have to finish the 125 mile course in less than a day in order to justify the time away from our families.  Raising some cash for a good cause to help save the planet might also justify the effort! In our eyes at least.
