Story
I donated money on the website justgiving.com recently for a dear friend of mine who is raising money for ovarian cancer by shaving her head. To put it as direct as Sharon would, she is shaving her head because she has to, “but wait until you see the new wig I’ve ordered’ she wrote on her Facebook wall earlier in the week…..To be blunt, Sharon was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer and has been battling against it for a bit now….She beat it, and when it returned at the end of last year she fought it again but recently she was told the most unimaginable news that there was no more that the doctors could do other than try and control it. She’s a strong girl though (much stronger than I could ever be) and although it has turned her life upside down, through it all she has remained focused on living her life to the full and has been nothing more than an inspiration to her family and friends.
It was only last month that I saw Sharon at her wonderful wedding and when we had a quiet moment to catch up, we simply gave each other a long hug…..One of those hugs ( it was more of squeeze to be honest) but it was a squeeze that said so much more than any words possibly could…..The helplessness I felt for the diagnosis and the sheer delight that I could share her special day. After the hug she looked right into my heavy filled eyes and winked, it was a strong wink, a wink with an assurance that she was okay. This is a happy day today, so pull yourself together and celebrate with me for goodness sake and I duly obliged…I danced like no one was watching and I laughed loudly as I caught up with old friends but I also took a moment to catch up with Sharon’s new husband David who is possibly the sweetest guy who walks on planet earth. I do expect and hope that they will have many happy years together and I know that (no matter what) they will appreciate every single second that they share together.

Thanks for taking the time to visit the JustGiving page.
After originally being diagnosed in Nov 2011 with Ovarian Cancer , I have since found that it has returned and and like so many other women , return means that it is now classed as incurable so i am fighting to raise awareness for this cause .
Ovarian Cancer when caught early can be cured , but unawareness of the symptoms means that women are needlessly dying . Unlike other cancers , Ovarian Cancer treatment hasn't progressed in the last 20 years .
Please help raise money for this great charity as early diagnosis and Research is the key to eradicating this horrible disease
