Story
Yes, I shall be dressed as Elvis!
I spent 24 years in the RAF and after losing very nearly 5 stone during the past year I want to run the Frome half-marathon, in support of a wonderful charity Hounds For Heroes
The purpose of "Hounds for Heroes" is to provide specially trained assistance dogs to injured and disabled men and women of both the UK armed forces and civilian emergency services.
After my time in the RAF and having lost so many good friends over the years in operational theatres I want to give something further back.
Of all the friends I lost my worst moment was:
Time: 15:47hrs
Date: 2nd September 2006
Location: Kandahar airspace (Afghanistan)
Last known action: Air-to-Air Refuelling
Immediately following a routine air-to-air refuelling (15:30hrs) XV230 a Nimrod MR2 from 120Sqn RAF Kinloss suffered a fire within the Bomb bay (15:41hrs) minutes later a second fire spread throughout the fuselage (15:46hrs) before XV230 exploded (15:47hrs) immediately killing all 12 crew and 2 passengers.

The Frome half-marathon is going to be a challenge, not least because I am now 45, don't like running and for the love of God Frome is renowned for its bloody hills!
