Following our cycle the length of Scotland last year this Father and Son team decided to try something really BIG, and as it turns out it is going to be the challenge of our lives. We will be aiming to cycle right across the USA in a month. Starting at Los Angeles in the west to Annapolis near Washington on the East coast.

This self imposed challenge will take a huge mental and physical resolve to complete, not only because of the distances, but also the week spent at altitude and very high summer temperatures. We need to cover about 3000 miles through the desert of California and Arizona, and via the Grand Canyon into Colorado and over the Rockies to a height of 10,857 feet. From there it is on to Kansas, Missouri, and another seven states before going through Washington DC and on to the coast at Annapolis.

We, Jonno (16) and Gav (47) have 32 days to complete it starting on June 24th from Santa Monica Beach LA with a plan to reach Annapolis by 25th July and make our way to NY airport for a flight home on the 27th.

We will be carrying everything we need to camp and have no physical support in the USA but we would ask that as many people who can will support us through donations to help boost our determination when things get tough. Also, and really importantly, your support will help with the work of the Scottish Charity - Vine Trust and their project to get a medical ship to Lake Victoria and provide life saving hands-on aid to isolated people on its shores. The Vine Trust already operate two similar boats on remote areas of the Amazon in Peru.
