Event: Thanksgiving Dinner at Marsha's House
We provide the resources and skills to help New Yorkers get back on their feet.

Story

On WednesdayNovember 20th from 6 to 9PM, Gertie will serve a special menu, including Gay Beer and J&E Small Goods sausage specials, and a spread by City Beet Kitchen.  Amber Valentine will be spinning beats all night long, so come after work for a sip, a bite, and good company!

Please join as three LGBTQ owned and/or allied small businesses come together to help throw a memorable Thanksgiving for our LGBTQ family in need! Earlier this year, star chefs Erika Nakamura and Jocelyn Guest launched J&E Small Goods to produce delicious, all-natural deli meats and sausages so that their family can eat well and yours can too. Beer lovers Jon Moore and Jason Pazmino created Gay Beer to offer a quality beer by-and-for the queer community and its allies. NYC restaurant vet Nate Adler opened all-day restaurant Gertie in January 2019, bringing a welcoming spot that has become beloved by queer and allied patrons alike.

MARSHA’S HOUSE

40% of homeless youth identify as LGBTQ. Marsha’s House, is the first in NYC to serve LGBTQ young adults.

LGBTQ young adults who are homeless in New York City have never had housing resources tailored to their needs. But that changed in February of 2017, when we proudly opened Marsha’s House, the City’s first shelter to fill this gap and serve LGBTQ individuals ages 18 to 30.
Named for local LGBTQ activist Marsha P. Johnson who died in 1992, Marsha’s House has 81 beds and a wide array of programs  to help clients overcome the unique vulnerabilities and discrimination that homeless LGBTQ individuals face. Services include referrals to education and employment programs, group counseling, and healthcare including HIV and transgender care.

Our staff is committed to ensuring that each person who comes through our shelter, regardless of their sexual identity or gender, has the full opportunity to renew their life and reclaim hope for the future.
