Geckos Ncs is raising money for Lyndale Cancer Support Centre
Story
We are team Geckos and we are taking part in NCS (national citizen service). NCS consists of 2 residential then 2 weeks of social action which involves the team carrying out 60 hours of voluntary work within the local community.
We are contacting you because our group needs donations, big or small, to help us raise money for Lyndale House. Lyndale house is a cancer recovery Centre that helps patients who are recovering from cancer, while supporting the carers and family of the patients. They provide emotional and practical support as well as support sessions for both patients and carers in a positive and friendly atmosphere.
During the first week we stayed at kingswood in North Wales. Upon arrival, we was placed into our teams with people we had never met before. We took part in several activities during our stay such as team building exercises e.g Raft building, we also took part in several independent activities such as rock climbing and abseiling.
For the second residential we stayed at Liverpool University Halls. During that week, we took part in life skills activities such first aid, interview skills CV building and money management. Our stay in Liverpool university brought our group closer as we became more friendly, confident and began to work as a better team, we also started to mix with other NCS groups.
We are currently on our social action which is the third week of our course. This week involves us raising money for a certain charity or a group of charities. We wanted to make an impact rather than just raise money!
In our final week (next week) we will be doing all the activities we have planned to raise money for Lyndale house. At the moment we have a few interesting activities lined up like a sponsored zip line and a sponsored hair dye with a few other things too.
Any donations would be kindly appreciated, as these charities are close to our hearts and anything given to them will go a very long way.
