In memory of our mum Linda Heacock

We have created this fundraising page in memory of our mum Linda who passed away peacefully on 28th June at Trinity hospice.
Our mum had been battling a terminal brain tumour. She fought so bravely and remained positive throughout her gruelling treatments but the cancer was extremely aggressive and her short battle ended 13 months later in the arms of her family. We were so fortunate that we could be with her at the end especially in these uncertain times
During mum’s life she participated in many charity fundraising events and worked as a volunteer at Trinity Hospice for many years. She experienced first hand the amazing care and compassion from all the staff at the hospice from the nurses and doctors to the chefs and cleaners, providing support and care to people at the end of their lives.
When we recently received the devastating news that mums brain tumour had returned and was now inoperable we were separated from her due to covid 19. She was in hospital and we were unable to visit her. We decided due to her complex needs that hospice care would be the best option for her.
When she arrived at the hospice after being in hospital for 2 weeks she was so desperately ill. We were shocked by the rapid deterioration in just a couple of weeks. The nurses and doctors didn’t think she would live much longer than a couple of days as she was refusing food and water, was non verbal and immobile . We braced ourselves for the worst but surrounded by her family and being cared for by some truly lovely nurses, mum began to improve. She started eating and drinking and could whisper a few words. We got her back long enough to say everything we needed to say to her and spend precious weeks together.
Although not everyone had the chance to say goodbye due to the lockdown restrictions. We will be eternally grateful to Trinity Hospice for allowing my sister and I and our dad around the clock visitation. Her brother was also allowed to say his goodbyes.
The hospice became our second home and the staff were always kind and supportive. Mum was given so much love and attention and always had a smile for the nurses that cared for her.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and please donate to this wonderful hospice. Leave a few nice words or memories of mum as they are always nice to read. Without donations, organisations like this one simply wouldn’t exist and they are a lifeline to families like ours.
