As a quick update - we all made it to Uhuru Peak - the highest point of Mount Kilimanjaro at 5895 metres. It was the hardest thing we've ever done, but we're all so proud of each other!! Thank you all for your support - we've already raised a fantastic amount for our chosen charities, and we are all truely touched by your generosity!!

Me, June, Phyl, Neil, Alex and James are risking life and limb to get to the top of the highest mountain in Africa - Mount Killimanjaro. We've all been training hard over the past few months, and are all determined to reach sumit - in any shape or form!! We'll try to keep this page updated with photo's and possibly video's (if your lucky ;-)).

Now for the serious bit... We are raising money for an 2 awesome charities called Africare and The Livingstonia Appeal- both charities based in Africa. 

Africare - The focus of our work there is ACHERU - Afaayo (Luganda for He Cares) Child Health Education and Rehabilitation Unit - where our Ugandan staff provide care and treatment for disabled children. We have been engaged in work with disabled children for 10 years. Over the past 25 years Africare has engaged in a range of work in Uganda. We were responsible for the development and running of the Besaniya Children's Home at Mukono. From that base we developed a child sponsorship programme, and assisted with a number of community projects.

The Livingstonia Appeal - This charity offers its support for children orphaned by AIDS in Malawi through the charitable organisation set up by Una Brownlie - a close relative of us all.The money will be used directly for feeding, clothing and providing medicines and shelter for AIDS orphans in the rural areas around Livingstonia.
