At Young Lives vs Cancer, we help families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. But every day 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer. We’ll face it all together – but we can’t do it without you. Visit www.younglivesvscancer.org.uk

Story

Team Collins…In it for the Payne!

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Receiving the news that someone you love has the dreaded ‘C’ word is bad enough. But imagine being a child and not fully understanding the implications of this horrible disease. Not understanding why you have to go into a hospital far from home, why the medicine the doctors give you makes you feel sick or why you have to have a tube attached to you at all times.

Well CLIC Sargent are there to help the child, parents and their family to understand what is happening and support the family emotionally, socially and financially. They provide Home from Home accommodation where families can stay for free so they can be near their child during treatment. CLIC Sargent also provide Nurses to work in every principal treatment centre in the UK, as well as pay specialists to support younger children in several treatment centres.

In September last year, we heard the devastating news that our niece had been diagnosed with Childhood Leukemia at just six years old. Admission to hospital 80 miles away from home was immediate with treatment starting quickly. Thankfully, our family's little fighter is kicking butt, and the prognosis is good. Even more thankfully, CLIC Sargent have been there to offer support and advice right from the start.

Because of this, it’s time to give back! So, a New Year’s resolution was made to fundraise for CLIC Sargent, and we are jumping in feet first on this one with a 100KM (that’s 62.14 miles) walk over two days from London to (very appropriately) Brighton starting on Saturday 26 May 2018.

If you would like to donate to this worthy charity and help a child or young person with cancer, as well as put us through the pain of 100KM of blisters, please click donate now. Any donation you would like to give will be very much appreciated and will fund vital services to help families when they need it most.

Thank you for reading our story and for any donations!
