September 7th 2016 is a day that will stay with me forever. It is the day I found out that my six year old daughter had cancer.
For months we watched on as our daughter endured scan after scan. Operation after operation. We were split as a family so that Laila could get the care she needed at Bristol Children's hospital. Diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma, she battled 6 rounds of chemotherapy.
CLIC sargent's help and guidance was invaluable. They navigated us through a world that was alien to us. They offered emotional support as well as financial support in terms of offering us accommodation in CLIC house Bristol and helping fund our travel costs.
We are relieved and eternally grateful to be able to say that Laila' s in remission and doing amazingly well. I watch her some days and find it hard to believe just how unwell she was. We are amazed by her determination and tenacity and immensely proud of her.
However, I will never forget what we have been through. I always think.of those still fighting and those other families at CLIC house who weren't so lucky. I am desperate to give back to the charity who helped us so much.
