Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In May this year my mum was diagnosed with high grade lymphoma and has since been in and out of Northampton General hospital, spending time on a variety of wards initially, but mostly on Talbot Butler ward since official diagnosis.
In such a short period of time the hospital has become almost a second home for my mum, myself and my sister. And I expect it will continue to be for some time to come. During this time we have met a number of wonderful, brave, cancer patients, some of whom have spent weeks and even months on the ward. Fortunately, thanks to the fundraising efforts of Lorraine (one of the Lewis foundation founders) each room and bay on the Talbot Butler ward has its own TV, saving the patients up to £10 a day for hospital television and providing a much needed distraction.
During mum's first week on Talbot Butler she received her first visit from the Lewis foundation and her first care pack. Something as simple and generous made such a difference to her day. It really cheered her up at a point when she felt so poorly and low.
To be able to offer these care packs to cancer patients on a weekly basis really does give them something to look forward to and I would like to raise as much money as I can to support this effort and really put a smile on the faces of people who really need it.
To raise this money I have decided to shave my hair in support of all of the women, men and children who have lost their hair through chemotherapy. I will also be donating the hair I cut off to be made into wigs for children.
I would love any donations no matter how small.
