Story

Thankyou for taking the time to look at our page. We're doing the 6k Newmarket Heath Race on Thurs 6th May, to raise money for the Backup Trust on behalf of the Friends of Camilla Milbank Appeal. Please help us out by donating!

Camilla Milbank:
http://www.friendsofcamillamilbankappeal.com/
In mid July of 2009 Camilla had a tragic accident whilst riding work in Newmarket. As a result of her fall, Camilla suffered a broken neck and damage primarily to her C6 vertebra and spinal cord. Today, the effects of Camilla's injuries are such that she has movement and feeling of her arms and wrists. She is regaining some movement to her chest and fingers and has limited sensation but no movement of her legs and body below the chest.

Approximately three people every day have an accident or injury that results in permanent paralysis through damage to the spinal cord.  There is no cure. Paralysis is permanent.

Over 40,000 people in the UK have a spinal cord injury (SCI), the majority of whom use a wheelchair. However, in cases where the injury is incomplete it may be possible to walk. The Back-Up Trust's services are for everyone affected by spinal cord injury, including families an friends.

Back-Up is a small, dynamic and professional charity that runs three distinct services: wheelchair skills, mentoring and rehabilitative activity or cultural courses. These services are peer-led and encourage independence, self-confidence and motivation following a life changing injury.
