Story

Thanks for visiting my Just Giving page.

I am cycling the Ride London 100 in memory of my late father, Geoffrey Fielden Baines, who passed away aged 85 in September last year following a plucky fight against lung cancer and dementia.

To those who didn't know Dad, he was a well-respected and much loved Consultant Cardiologist who touched the lives of countless patients and their families. He was so passionate about Cardiology and worked in over 30 hospitals in a medical career spanning over six decades!

He was also an amazing father and he gave all his children the best possible start in life. His absence is extremely keenly felt, and I will be cycling my socks off to raise as much money as possible for a charity that was very close to Dad's heart (pun intended, sorry), The British Heart Foundation.

Although I can't find photo evidence, Dad was the person who instilled in me a lifelong love of cycling and saw me through trikes, stabilisers on to endless days cycling around Grafham and Rutland Waters. So Riding 100miles as fast as I can seems a good way to pay tribute!
