Saving lives by advancing research into the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of blood cancer, leukaemias and lymphomas

Story

In loving memory of Geoffrey Liggins, diagnosed with T-cell prolymphocytic leukaemia (T-PLL) in August 2015, who sadly was unable to be cured from his illness and passed away on Sunday 22 March 2020.

T-PLL is very rare, Geoff was only one of two in the country with his type of cancer at the time of his diagnosis. Although the treatment and care he received was outstanding and gave Geoff's family and friends four and a half precious years with him, sadly, he came to a point where there were no more treatment options available for him.

We, his family, want to change the outlook for those diagnosed with this type of cancer and similar blood cancers so that other's may have the chance to be saved.

We would like to support the work of the research team and the Doctors and Nurses that helped Geoff by supporting the Ernest and Helen Scott Haematological Research Institute - lead by Professor Martin Dyer at the Leicester Cancer Research Centre, University of Leicester.

This page has been created for one-off donations, or larger fundraising efforts, to be held in memory of Geoff to add to the pot in support of the Ernest and Helen Scott Haematological Research Institute.

Donations to this cause will help contribute towards:

• research into resistance to therapies
• development of new tools for diagnosis of patients for better response to therapies
• identification of new therapies
• clinical trials

Help us support taking research further to help save the lives of others diagnosed with blood cancers including leukaemias and lymphomas.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the whole team who supported and cared for Geoff during his diagnosis and treatment and the palliative care team who supported Geoff and his family in his final week.

We would also like to thank everyone who is able to make a donation, no matter how small. Your donation will really help to make a difference.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the cause, the most efficient way to donate.
