Story

UPDATE 23RD APRIL 2012 -

I COMPLETED THE MARATHON IN 4 HOURS 37 MINS. WITH SLICES OF PIZZA AND JELLY BABIES DONATED BY MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC ON THE WAY ROUND!!!

I ENJOYED EVERY MINUTE OF IT, BARRING THE LAST 4 MILES,THE WORST MOMENT WAS GETTING OVERTAKEN BY A GIANT WOMBLE WHICH DEFINITELY CONTRIBUTED TO A BURST OF SPEED, I WAS NOT GOING TO BE BEATEN BY A GIANT CUDDLY TOY.

MANY, MANY THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HAS CONTRIBUTED TO THIS PAGE AND I WILL CARRY ON FUNDRAISING UNTIL I REACH MY TARGET. I AM ALREADY THINKING ABOUT APPLYING FOR A PLACE NEXT YEAR!.......

GEORGE

My name is George Adey. I am 19 years oldI  and I am type 1 diabetic.

Running, especially marathon running, is not my first choice sport but I am extremely competitive and will enjoy the challenge and the chance of raising much needed money for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. JDRF exists to find the cure for Type 1 diabetes and its complications. For more information take at look at  www.jdrf.org.uk

My elder sister ran the London Marathon in 2010 for JDRF and since then there have been pointed remarks about me buying some running shoes and doing the same, so here I go!

I am a qualified tennis coach and still regularly compete in tournaments around the country. I am reliant on my insulin pump which allows me to regulate my blood sugar levels even when I am taking part in high intensity exercise and this is what I hope it will do while I’m running the Marathon!

It would be fantastic if you could sponsor me. I will be making a Facebook group to keep you all updated with my training, injuries, number of pairs of trainers used etc!
