We aim to raise awareness of the medical issues commonly associated with autism. We believe many children and adults with autism are medically ill, and when their needs are properly assessed and appropriately treated, health, behaviour and quality of life can be improved.

Thinking Autism:

Thinking Autism is a charity run by volunteers and a small paid staff, all of whom are parents of children with autism. They provide information and support to families and individuals affected by autism with the aim of improving quality of life and reducing disabling symptoms of autism as well as help them to reach their full potential through five interrelated endeavours:

1. Bringing information and support

2. Bringing people together

3. Sharing research, clinical outcomes, and parent experiences

4. Campaigning

5. Advocating for research

Thinking Autism is the only UK autism charity that focuses on addressing and removing the barriers to appropriate medical care for people with autism, which has been identified as the key problem and one of the major contributors to high stress and poor quality of life of people with autism and their parents and carers.

Why am I running for Thinking Autism?

Throughout my career and my personal life, I have found that autism can be greatly misunderstood. I have worked with and provided support for individuals with autism and understand that it is not just the individual that needs support but their families as well.

As you can see from the previous section on the background of Thinking Autism, this is exactly what they do. They help and support families affected by autism with the aim of improving quality of life and empowering them to reach their full potential. Close family friends have had a very positive impact from working with Thinking Autism and have expressed how helpful they were at the beginning of their journey.

Any donation, however great or small can make a significant difference to the families who manage autism in their lives.

Thank you for your contribution.
