Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit George Leigh charity page where we aim to raise money in his memory .

April 5th 2025 George would have been 25 years old .

Friends and family are running the Brighton 10K in his memory .The 2022 Brighton Marathon was the last race we completed together .

He is always in our thoughts xx Mum and Dad

It just a few days we had reached the initial target of 2,000 which is testimony to George as an individual . The  target has been increased to 4,000 which would be an amazing  effort so thank you in advance .

26-05-23  Update the fundraising has reached over £6,000 .Laura from St Petrocks has contacted me and thanked everyone for the donations in Georges memory .

The fundraising will make a huge difference in the lives of people in crisis . We are deeply honored that you have chosen to support us in this way and I am sure George would have been so very proud .

Thanks again

George Died on the 28th March in France aged just 22 with his whole life ahead of him  , his funeral will be held at St Albans Cathedral  on Monday 15th May @ 1pm .

George was full of life and adventure , he always thought himself in his life to be very fortunate as a result he  committed time and energy to those who needed it more . That could be a close friend who needed a chat to  a student runner or climber  joining the UBES club for the first time. Through to a  complete stranger  who just needed a kind word or gesture .

Georges passion was climbing and endurance running he had scaled Kilimanjaro, various peaks in the Andes over 6000M , Mt Blanc  and the more modest  peaks in the UK and Ireland multiple times . He had completed many endurance events including an Ultra marathon , the Welsh 3000 and the Paddy Barclay round in Wales . He was training for the Ironman Lanzarote in May as his next big challenge .

He always thought of others.   On New Years Eve George and his father  went to a local supermarket .  While paying for the trolley of goods,  George picked up a meal deal , he  placed it on the belt behind the family shop ,  his father said you don't need a sandwich now . George replied  that it wasn't for him and on leaving the store gave the meal deal and the change from his £10.00 note to the young homeless man outside wishing  him a Happy New Year .

This was George he had time for everyone no matter who they were or what walk of life .

With his friends he started a clothing business and chose St Petrocks to support and donations from every sale went to the charity . We think it is fitting that in his passing we can continue this work in his memory .

 Thankyou
