Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Three years ago my nephew, Henry Davidson, was rushed to hospital following blood tests and after 4 agonising days was diagnosed with leukaemia. He and his family have endured three hard years of treatment with countless scheduled and emergency trips to Great Ormond Street.  If Henry can endure this treatment, then I should be able to endure 26 miles of pain.

I am delighted to be running as a member of Team Coe. Sebastian Coe was my boyhood hero and the finest athlete of his generation. No pressure there then. Team Coe are not interested in already great runners but in getting people like me fit. I had not run for twenty years and in that time have been diagnosed and treated successfully for thyroid cancer.

Team Coe is fund-raising for Cancer Research UK and for the Francis Crick Institute. The Francis Crick Institute is a remarkable new facility being built behind St Pancras Station where some of the world's finest minds will conduct research in the world's best facilities to conquer diseases, like cancer, that have previously been seen as incurable. To complete the circle, Henry's Dad (my brother John Davidson) was strongly involved in the early setting up of the Institute.
