On 17th July 2020, I was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease a terminal diagnosis which literally for all the months since has knocked the stuffing out of me. My thoughts and emotions are all over the place, constantly worrying for my wife, Georgina and my children, Molly 14, Fred 10 and Bertie aged 7 what the future will hold for them. 

I did not see the diagnosis coming even though I have been living with the symptoms for a few years but did not make the connection, putting my loss of strength down to over work.. Having followed closely Doddie Weirs story from the beginning and also being a fellow rugby playing sheep farmer, I find it ironic to be now in the same boat. I have taken great strength from Doddie, his charity and others I know with the condition,  inspiring me to dust myself off and go again! 

Whilst fit and well, I have a strong need to help in the raising of money to assist with MND research. I can't sit still during the pandemic and do nothing while I feel physically able ; my opportunity is now. So in January, before lambing, I wish to raise money by planting 1500 trees on my farm, which will be a living memorial wood to me. I have paid for the trees and have a delivery date, so no going back! Friends and family will draw strength watching it grow over time, with the memories it will hold.

Anyone contributing are more than welcome to come and plant a tree with me, (socially distanced of course, as the trees need to be 2.5m apart !) Or simply just donate, knowing I am doing my little bit to combat climate change and your money is leaving no stone unturned on its way to offering hope to so many.  Thankyou once again.
