Bridgnorth Lions Walk · 29 May 2017
I am taking part in the Bridgnorth Lions Walk, a 22 mile walk to the summit of Clee Hill and back, on the 29th May to raise money for Hilbrae Rescue Kennels, a local shelter in Telford that takes in stray and unwanted dogs. Those of you who know me will know I am a big animal lover, roughly 8 years ago I convinced my Mum and Dad to rehome a year old German Shepherd called Otto.....when I say convinced what I mean is I bought him home one night and said guess whose moving in! I fell in love with him from the word go (my Mum needed slightly more persuading) but he had is fair share of difficulties, behavioural and health. Sadly we lost him when he was only 6, to this day we aren't entirely sure what was wrong. Although Otto only had a short time with us he couldn't have been a bigger part of our family and I wouldn't change the time we had for the world. . Before Otto I might have been apprehensive about rehoming a dog whose history was unknown to me but I'm so glad we took the chance and I would always consider doing the same in the future. So many dogs find themselves in rescue kennels every year and we all could do more to support the great work these charities do.
