BHF London to Brighton Bike Ride 2015 · 21 June 2015 ·
My story is simple, I am riding for British Heart Foundation because of the amazing work they do in researching heart related diseases and illnesses. Many of us will have friends or family who have been affected, take my stepfather Ian Mackay, who at 54 suffered 3 heart attacks and underwent pioneering heart surgery involving revascularisation of dormant heart muscle using grafts. Subsequent insertion of a defribrillator has enabled him to live life to the full.
Training has been going well, a few weekends ago I took part in the Round the (Isle of Wight) Island bike ride, 50 odd miles which despite rain, gusts and mist, I can honestly say I really enjoyed the day. Last weekend together with a few friends, I cycled laden with pannier from Dieppe to Paris, 170 miles, finishing at the Notre Dame, in 27 degree heat. Fantastique!
Now for the formal bit, please pledge what you can for this very worthwhile cause. I promise to report back following the ride and regale you with my experiences from the day, including tackling the notorious Ditchling Beacon.
Thank you for taking the time to read my Justgiving page.
PS Yes that really is me, aged 12, what a fashion victim!
