Hello there! I'm Gerda - runner, doctor, and most of all a Cat Mum.

My husband and me adopted our beloved cat Marmaduke just over 2 years ago from Blue Cross rehoming Centre. And what a life changer that was! He has brought us so much joy, taught us about ourselves, and definitely has become a valued member (if not head) of our family.

This poor mature boy had been waiting for his forever home and new family for quite a while as he was rather corpulent. We fell in love with him instantly, and were both nervous and excited to share with him our love, home and care to give him a happy life and achieve his weight loss goals. Blue Cross had already made a head start with his weight loss transformation, and we cannot thank them enough for their kind support and advice along the way. Skip forward... and Marmaduke is now much healthier and happier at 5.7kg and counting (he was 7.6kg when he came to us); he enjoys his house (specially staircase) and garden, fooling around with the neighbor cat, watching birds and chasing squirrels.

About me....I'm a doctor by profession, but my hobbies are traveling and running (better yet, put these two together). I have taken part in multiple 10Ks & Half Marathons. My best achievement was 2nd place (female) in Trail Half Marathon in Dorset 2015. I have also completed 3 full Marathons over the last few years.

My husband Tim aka Marmaduke's Dad - joined my love of running in 2015, and since then has excelled in his running career, has taken part in multiple races, and this year is also running London Marathon.

We could not think of a better cause to fundraise than Blue Cross who help pets in need. As a gratitude for their magnificent work we wish to give a little back by raising £2000 and take part in London Marathon on 3rd October 2021.
