Grace was born 10 years ago and (along with her mother, obviously!!) is the light of my life.

For the first 2 to 3 years we all had a very stressful and confusing time of it until she was diagnosed with 'Barakat's Syndrome'- which at least gave us all an explanation for what was wrong. During that time and since, the staff at the Bristol Children's Hospital have kept us sane and well and confident that she is getting the best care available. I will always be grateful and thankful for their support.

As she gets bigger and moves towards a kidney transplant sometime in the next 18 months or so (Mum, Dina is a slightly better match than me..!) I feel that a little discomfort for the time it will take me to cycle from Cardiff to Bristol and an opportunity to raise some money for the hospital that looks after us and many other families all over this part of the country is too good to miss.

I will be completing the ride with Sally (my stepmother) who has been with us through thick and thin and will be my pacemaker!! and a number of Vodafone store manager colleagues who are all aiming to raise £250 each and have it matched by the company!!
