Story
Hi Folks, thanks for visiting! We aim to raise money for the Royal Marines
Charitable Trust Fund by helping Rachel Hall complete the 2015 10km Commando
Challenge (see http://www.commandochallenge.co.uk/). Rachel was
severely injured in a road accident in January 2011 and her survival and
recovery so far has been nothing short of miraculous. She remains
paralysed from the chest down and also has a slowly recovering brain injury but
is determined to help others and to give something back to the Charity that has
just funded a fantastic powered wheelchair that will help to increase her
independence. She will be carried round the Royal Marines Endurance
Course on Sunday 11 October in a purpose-built Sedan Chair, mainly by some of the Young Officers soon to pass out of RM training (pictured). Then she'll try to
outpace her team for the remaining 6km on the country lanes in 'Ernie', her new
powered chair!
Last year many of you were generous enough to help Rachel raise £3600 for the RMCTF and RN/RM Children's Fund by swimming 20 lengths (500 metres), a personal best since her accident. We had hoped to do a Skydive as well, but medical advice prevents that for now. This year we want to triple that amount so we hope somebody can release some big bucks through corporate sponsorship! Meanwhile we're very grateful for anything you can spare.
