Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page in support of lungsforliving, the only UK charity entirely dedicated to developing new research and new treatments for lung cancer.  I am one of the principal scientists working with Lungsforliving at University College, London.

Lungsforliving is the UK's first academic centre dedicated to researching new ways to detect and treat lung cancer at its earliest stages.

We have a vision of creating a dedicated research centre that will combine cutting edge research equipment in a world class laboratory environment - the Lungs for Living Research Centre.  To achieve this we are raising funds to support our research as well as to cover the costs of refurbishing and equipping state of the art laboratories.  We aim to build on our current program of basic science discovery and translation into the clinic to deliver novel treatments for lung cancer patients nationally and internationally.

I've recently learned that the current WORLD RECORD for an internal organ running the London Marathon is 3 hours and 48 minutes (by Alan Blair as a heart in 2013).  I reckon I could beat this time.  Therefore, IF I can raise at least £3000 I will run the marathon in fancy dress as a LUNG and try to break this record

As an added incentive, if anyone donates over £200 as a single donation I will be happy to put your name or any logo you'd like on the lung costume during the race.  I'll also happily go for any publicity runs in costume before the big race with you (or if you'd like to have a laugh at my expense)

Thanks everyone for supporting me in aid of lungsforliving.
