Virgin London Marathon 2011 · 17 April 2011 ·

We brighten the lives of seriously ill young people by granting wishes and providing ongoing support. Our wishes are as unique as the children themselves and whether a child wants to be a fireman, meet a real-life mermaid or even the Loch Ness Monster, we work hard to make that wish come true.

Story

Thank you so much for supporting me in the London Marathon running for a very special charity.

I’ve run a few half marathons before but have selfishly never raised a single penny for charity. This year I was lucky enough to get a ballot place in the London Marathon and have decided that this scarily big challenge is a too great an opportunity to not raise a little money for a good charity.

We were all lucky enough to have healthy and fun filled childhoods, maybe with just the odd occasional taster of illness & sadness. But many children are only going to live with serious or life-limiting illnesses and have no time or ability to ever fulfil their pure and youthful dreams…but since 2004 the ‘Rays of Sunshine’ children’s charity with our help supports these children’s wishes to come true and become happy times & memories.

If you can spare some ‘happiness tokens’ this would really motivate Giedre's little legs over those big long 26 miles and make some very brave little children’s wishes come true.  So please get out your plastic fantastics and donate as much as you can…

(Wish me luck!)
