We have made the decision to walk from Aylesbury to Brighton in April 2018 to acknowledge the 10 year anniversary of one of our SOBS member's parents suicide.

In April 2008 Gill lost both of her parents to suicide. On the 13th April 2008 Gill had to make an anxious phone call to the police over concern for welfare after a day of strange texts from her parents. This was not unusual as both her parents suffered with mental illnesses. Since Gill can remember her parents had been in and out of hospital and under care of mental health professionals.. The police agreed to attend their address.. it seemed like a lifetime of waiting.. Suddenly at 11:30pm there was a knock at the door.. It was the police with the awful news that her parents had commited suicide through suspected overdose.. Her mother was pronouced dead at 12:30am 14th April. . Her dad was barely alive and flown by air amberlance where he was put on life support.. this was turned off three days later.. They were gone.. No explanation No reasoning.. She was lost.. Since then Gill concentrated on the upbringing of her son and kept her parents safely locked away in the back of her head. In October 2016, Gill found out about a support group called SOBS where she met many others who have lost family and friends to suicide. Instead of keeping the 10 year anniversary quiet, Gill has decided to stand up and raise awareness and to reduce the stigma around suicide. So together, we will walk side by side and 'STRIDE AGAINST SUICIDE'. This will be an anniversary of reflection and a celebration of Ronald and Sylvia's lives. Lets all #Walk2Talk

Have 2 Choosen Charities SOBS (  Survivors of Bereavement through Suicide ) This is run by volunteers who have been affected by Suicide..They have monthly meetings in many areas around the UK..Unfortunately there are not enough and many people have to travel great distances to attend these meetings..

Second Charity is Hector's House..One evening while at a SOBS meeting I met a Gentleman called Robert who lost his Son Hector at the age of 18..Robert and his family now go out in to the community to schools,colleges and other organizations to Share Hector's story and to educate about Suicide Awareness and also rush to peoples aid when in Crisis..

The Facebook page follows my journey of training for many months and aslo being a support page for other people that have lost loved ones to Suicide..

To show them that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I am in the Process of becoming a Leader for SOBS ( Survivors of bereavement by Suicide ) in Milton Keynes which will hopefully be opening up sometime during the year.
