Instead of buying a present to celebrate our wedding, it would mean the world to us to raise money for the Ruth Strauss Foundation.

This is a charity that raises awareness of the need for more research in the fight against non-smoking lung cancers. 

I've never smoked, so it was complete shock when, almost 3 years ago, what I (and probably my GP) thought was just a chest infection, turned out to be incurable stage 4 lung cancer. 

Turns out, non-smoking lung cancers are on the rise, with a higher number of incidences amongst women. Lung cancer kills more people than any other cancer (more than breast cancer, bowel cancer, all gynaecological cancers and prostrate cancer combined) both in the UK and worldwide, yet it receives a fraction of other cancer's funding, in part due to the stigma of smoking. 

Yet not only do smokers not deserve cancer, 10-25% of lung cancers aren't caused by smoking at all.  

With this in mind, Matthew and I would be delighted if you were able to make a modest donation to the Ruth Strauss Foundation.
