Sense Ethiopia trek 22nd -31st October, 2016 · 21 August 2016

Sense is here to support disabled people from the first weeks of life through all the major milestones of adulthood. Over 70 years, we’ve built extensive knowledge and expertise in supporting disabled people with complex needs, including deafblind people.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Inspired by James and Antonia’s travels we have become more adventurous and this year we are pushing ourselves well out of the comfort zone with a six day trek through the Simian mountains in Ethiopa, walking up to 12 hours a day, reaching 4,500m altitude and five nights under canvas.   NO bed, NO showers...think this might be a once in a lifetime thing!

There is a compelling reason for such an effort this year… we are supporting a charity, Sense who are embarking on a wonderful new project called TouchBase in Selly Oak, Birmingham. It’s a £14m build that is currently underway and will be finished by Summer 2017. Every penny raised from the trek will go towards this new development which will provide a welcoming environment to the whole community and vital services for deafblind people. TouchBase is an inspiring and innovative project with a vision that people working together can make a real difference.  You can find out more about TouchBase if you visit www.letsbuildtouchbase.org.
