My friends and family are very aware of my daughters Emma and Ann-Marie Cavanagh who died from Brain Cancer when they where young. It is now coming up to Emma's 20th Anniversary in February 2012 and to mark this Anniversary I would like to invite you all to sponser me to have my head shaved. Both my daughters lost their hair during treatment and never compained. Ive now fogotten what my original hair colour is so maybe by shaving it off and letting it grow back I may find out (its probably grey) Its not going to grow back black and wavey which is what Emma always wanted to happen with her hair. So if you would like to help me raise money for cancer research to help stop other familys going through what we went through then please dig deep I am planning to have my head shaved in February 2012 but will keep you updated on this page If you want to read the story of Emma and Ann Marie Please go to the bottom of this page Thank you

EMMA & ANN-MARIES JOURNEY (in brief)
Emma first became ill in January 1991 but was not diognosed until she was rushed into hospital after having a fit. They operated quite quickly and after some time in ICU she was moved to the childrens ward in Hull Royal Infirmary. They then informed us that Emma would have to go to Leeds for radiotherapy and that we would have to spend our weekdays at Cookridge hospital. We spent 9 weeks there only coming home to her sister and brother at the weekends. After radiotherapy she had to have chemotherapy going to the childrens cancer unit in Leeds. It was while Emma was having this treatment that her sister Ann-Marie started showing symptons. Emma's surgeon told us to bring Ann-Marie in straight away. It was confirmed that she had the same brain tumour as Emma. After surgery Ann-Marie was very ill and spent some time in ICU she was unable to speak and was being fed through a feeding tube. It was decided that Ann-Marie would go into the Cancer unit and St James hospital Leeds. She was in there having chemotherapy for 7 weeks with her sister joining her for her treatment. Anne-Marie started talking again but it was near to Christmas that I was able to take them both home. Little did I know that it would be the last christmas that we would send together. It was in January 1992 whilst taking Ann-Marie over to Leeds that I was told Emma had been taken into Hull Royal because she was fitting. It was decided then that they girls would stay together so that I was able to look after them both. It was only February 1992 that both girls where taken into Hull Royal Ann-Marie needed a small operation so Emma went with her They where in beds next to each other. When I went to see Emma she didnt look well and the last words she spoke to me where 'Im frightned mum' she never really came round after that even though the doctors did everything they could Emma died in my arms a week later at 7pm on the 20th February 2002. Her sister Ann-Marie carried on with her treatment and did quite well She even won the Hull Daily Mail Child of Courage award. That was until the secondary cancer went onto her spine. She was given only weeks to live but battled for over 18 months. Ann-Marie was a very devout Catholic and spent time in Lourdes we all prayed for a miracle. In April 1994 Ann-Marie went blind and her quality of life was very poor She even told me that it was time for her to join her sister. She passed away peacefully at our home in Hull on the 22nd May 4 weeks shy of her ninth birthday. She was surrounded by her teddies and toys and her father and I where with her when she joined her sister, Our lives have never been the same since We miss the girls every day and even after so many years the pain of loosing them never goes away. Please help Cancer Research in Memory of two very brave girls My angels Emma and Ann-Marie Cavanagh
