Story
Gordon died courageously at home on Malham Moor on Monday 22nd November 2021 after a difficult year suffering from Cholangiocarcinoma (Bile duct cancer). He was surrounded by the love of his family. Thank you to all our friends and family who have supported us throughout this year.
Gordon was a 'Top Man' who touched the lives of many, particularly in the rugby union community. He played rugby for Wharefdale, Morley, Yorkshire and finally for North Ribblesdale, where he also coached both senior and junior teams. He was renowned for his 'robust' scrummaging sessions.
He was a loving and precious husband to Gillian, a cherished son of Sheila and the late Michael ('Mick') and a much loved brother; to Mark and Lynne, Uncle to William and Mary, and Mark Jane and Jamie. He enjoyed the company of many friends, liking nothing more than a catch up over a cup of tea or a beer (a 'beer and a bullshit'). We are devastated by his loss. He was a man of Malham Moor and of Le Couret in France.
We are collecting donations, if desired, in memory of Gordon to help the Craven District Nursing Team. We did not need their direct services until the final weeks of Gordon's life but they provided a reassuring and professional support to us in difficult times. We would especially like to thank the four nurses who visited us: Emma, Isobel, Alice and Wendy. I know that any money we can raise will be used carefully and effectively to support the team or develop the delivery of these services in Craven. Thank you.
