Amyloidosis is a rare, often fatal disease, caused by accumulation of protein fibres, amyloid, in the tissues. The Fund provides invaluable support for research and patients in the National Amyloidosis Centre at the Royal Free Hospital.

Story

Gillian lost her fight to Amyloidosis on the 18th November 2019 after being diagnosed in May 2019. We’re raising money in Gillian’s memory for the Amyloidosis Research Fund to help find a cure and help raise awareness of this rare but fatal disease. We kindly ask everyone to respect that it’s family flowers only at the funeral, and if you’d like to donate then please do, or just share to raise awareness.. All in loving memory of Gillian Tillotson 💜❤️

Amyloidosis is a rare disease caused by damaging build up of abnormal protein fibres, called amyloid, within the tissues and organs. Amyloidosis can affect any part of the body and lead to life threatening organ failure. It causes the death of about one person in every thousand and there are about 6,000 cases in the UK at any time. The Amyloidosis Research Fund within the Royal Free Charity supports the research, development and patients of the UK NHS National Amyloidosis Centre (NAC) at the Royal Free Hospital. The Centre, established in 1999, is funded directly by NHS Specialised Services to provide diagnostic and management advisory services for all UK amyloidosis patients.
