Berlin Marathon 2015 · 27 September 2015 ·

We’re the UK’s leading charity for Crohn’s and Colitis. Right now, over 500,000 people in the UK are living with a lifelong disease that many people have never heard of. We’re working to improve diagnosis and treatment; to fund research and to raise awareness.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This September I will complete my first marathon in Berlin in aid of Crohn's and Colitis UK. Crohn's Disease and Colitis are the most common forms of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), and affect almost 400,000 people in the UK alone (as well as millions worldwide). IBD is a chronic condition that often involves painful and embarrassing symptoms; flare-ups can be incapacitating and at this time there is no cure.  It also heightens the risk of other serious conditions, including osteoporosis and bowel cancer.

Crohn's and Colitis UK provides information for those who have been diagnosed with the condition, as well as their loved ones and medical professionals. It aims to heighten awareness about IBD, and provides opportunities to support those affected. It also funds research into medications that may improve symptoms experienced by sufferers, and increase their quality of life.

I have a personal connection to the charity as IBD affects several members of my family. As such, I would be incredibly grateful for any donations over the next few months that could help me reach my fundraising target by September. Thank you.
