Story

All her life Gilly Newton wanted a pet monkey. She had watched "Bedtime for Bonzo" and "10 years with the Circus". Monkeys seemed like the most fun and most devoted friends.  She compromised on a toy monkey called Zephyr, from the BaBa The Elephant stories. She loved this toy, and all that love wore holes in his fur and his ears and his paws. Inexpertly ( and repeatedly) mended by her sister Siobhan Zephyr remained a treasured friend until the day she died.

She came to understand that monkeys of all sorts, were playful sociable beautiful creatures who were happiest in the wild. She always worried about orphaned or mis-treated monkeys.

Gilly died, way too young, with Zephyr watching over her.

If we can raise money to support the work of Wild Futures with abandonned or rescued monkeys then we are doing something positive that Gilly would thoroughly approve of as a way of honouring her life.

We also support projects overseas with funding, practical assistance and advice and believe that education is vital in changing things for the better; educating more than 30,000 visitors and students on our work each year.

Our charity receives no government funding, so financial support is vital to allow us to continue our important work.
