Our Mum, Gladys Ixer, was diagnosed some 9/10 years ago with Alzeimer's and Vascular Dementia. As with all the challenges that faced Gladys, she was determined not to let it get her down and rob her of her cheerful, positive approach to life. Even up until February, she was still able to enjoy a good old sing song, even if the words weren't quite right (!), and her smile remained bright and cheerful. She will be remembered with great affection by all those who loved her, were befriended by her and who cared for her in her later years.
As Alzheimer's Research UK states ... 1 in 3 people born today will develop dementia in their lifetime, unless we bring about life-changing preventions and treatments. Dementia is not a natural part of aging. It is caused by physical diseases, most commonly Alzheimers.
Through research, diseases can be slowed. We are therefore asking for donations rather than flowers to help fund this life-changing research. Please give generously.
