Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are ambassadors for the Northern Ireland Children's Hospice, this year's official charity for the Deep River Rock Belfast City Marathon.

As marathon runners ourselves, we'll be working with Northern Ireland Children's Hospice to promote the Marathon and offer aspiring Marathoners tips on how to finish the race.

We are using this page to do our own fundraising for the charity.

We also have our own Marathon goals that we'll tell you about on this page.

UPDATE: Gladys and Marty ran the Rotterdam Marathon on 15 April, with Gladys clocking 2.43.46 and Marty - in a warmup for his pacing efforts in London and Belfast - timed 2.46.33. It was a somewhat disappointing race for Gladys, being off her personal best, but at least a respectable effort for her third marathon in less than six months. Marty will now pace the 3.00 runners this coming weekend in London, and two weeks after that at the Belfast City Marathon. Gladys plans to take part in the relay at the Belfast City Marathon, along with Judi Graham, Louise McNeill, Claire Prenter and Hannah Waugh. There are two new photos from Rotterdam, so check them out.

UPDATE: Gladys competed at the Houston Marathon on 15 January, running a personal best of 2.40.56. This was short of the Olympic A qualification standard of 2.37, but she can try again for the standard before the end of April. We'll keep you updated on her plans on this site. In the meantime, check out the three new photos from the race.

Marty has represented Ireland in international ultra running championships and is a past top ten finisher at the Belfast City Marathon.
