This year Gleeds is celebrating 130 years in business, and in order to celebrate have launched The Gleeds Global Challenge. Staff around the world will attempt to raise £130,000 for a variety of good causes.
Five of Nottingham's finest have decided to attempt the 3 Peaks Challenge, which involves climbing the highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales during a 24 hour period.
The team will be as follows:
- Chris Grimwood (designated driver)
- Laurence Hunt
- Tim Harper
- Richard Roodhouse
- Alan Wood
This will be a very tough undertaking, especially considering we are not all climbers or hikers, but we will do our best to complete the challenge, and traffic/leg muscles depending, also to beat the clock.
We have decided to donate any proceeds to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, whose aim is carry out research to beat MS, as well as helping the treatment and care of the 100,000 UK sufferers. A close family member of one of the team has just been diagnosed so any donations would be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE: We are pleased to announce that the challenge has been successfully completed on 14th August with no broken bones! It was an incredibly tough task, and not one we are keen to repeat. 1,000 miles of driving, 27 miles of walking, 3.5km of height climbed and plenty of Lucozade consumed.
Tim & Laurence reached the summit of Snowdon in an impressive 23hrs & 47mins after a sprint to the finish. Alan and Richard reached the summit in 24hrs and 6 mins (not bad for the oldies of the team).
A special shout out should also go to our driver Chris, who patiently waited for us at the base of each mountain, as well as driving around 1,000 miles on a mixture of busy motorways and sheep-ridden country lanes.
