OCHRE works to raise awareness of oesophageal cancer, a hard to treat, less survivable cancer. We fund research to support better outcomes. We work with health services and policy makers to improve understanding of the dangers of heartburn and the need for earlier diagnosis which can save lives.

Story

Thank you for taking the time to look at our page!

We are running the Bath Half Marathon on Sunday 11th March for Ochre, the Oesophageal Cancer charity.

This was chosen because Glen's mum was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer just before Christmas; she is currently undergoing treatment and was one of the fortunate few who was diagnosed before it had spread. Often the symptoms of the disease - namely indigestion and difficulty swallowing - are not easily attributed to this form of cancer, and so it can go undiagnosed for some time before finally being picked up.

Ochre looks to raise awareness of, promote research into and provide funding for research and equipment to aid in diagnosis of a form of cancer which receives little attention but is greatly on the rise.

Any contribution you would be willing to make would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
