Story

Support Cancer Research UK and help beat cancer

  • Cancer Research UK are the world's leading charity dedicated to beating cancer. Their research has been at the heart of the progress that has seen survival rates for cancer double in the last 30 years. But too many lives are still devastated by cancer and we often dont have to go far in our family of social lives to know someone directly or indirectly affected by it.  It's vital that their work, funded entirely by the public, continues.

So what am I doing ?

Running in the 2010 Great Manchester 10k Run, Sunday 16th May. This is my second 10k race within four weeks ( Great Ireland Run, 18th April ) but as a late entrant into the first race I unfortunately missed the opportunity to fund raise, so I'm hoping you will dig a little deeper for this run, but every penny is appreciated. Some key points to ponder when considering the scale of my challenge: Historically the farthest I tend to run is to the pie stand at half time to beat the crowds, try a pukka pie at Ravenhill and you'll understand. My greatest physical exertion this week has been the Guardians cryptic crossword, 7 down, seriously who writes this stuff??

So not only can you take pride in personnally contributing to the fight against cancer, improving lives and advancing studies, but you can take amusement in the fact that you will have made me work hard for your money, a Brucie bonus.

Where does your money go ?

The vision of beating cancer is an enormous challenge. Cancer Research UK carry out world class research to improve our understanding of cancer and find out how to prevent, diagnose and treat different kinds of cancer. They ensure that new findings are used to improve the lives of all cancer patients, help people to understand cancer and the choices each person can make. I urge you to follow the link and see your donation in practice:
