Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
LATEST NEWS - Thank you to all involved, we have raised around £4,500 and could not have done it without your support.
Tony Bond, Dave Williams, Patricia Thomas, Joan McKay, Naggar, Mark Jones, Adele Lawton, Tony Ward, Nicola Brandwood & Barry Cartledge - guys we did it for people like you & you were all in our thoughts throughout the event xx
Kevin Batty & Glyn Thomas are both keen cyclists who have previously challenged themselves on a number of cycling events in aid of charity. Last year Kevin rode from Rome to Home in aid of British Heart Foundation with Glyn joining for the UK leg.
This year the guys are taking on a 400 mile, 3 day challenge on UK turf in aid of Cancer Research not only in honour of Glyn's father in law who is battling with cancer for a 3rd time, but for all cancer sufferers. Like so many people these days members of both Kevin's and Glyn's families are friends have battled cancer, some winning the fight and unfortunately some being taken from us by this awful disease. We are delighted to welcome Garry Clark to the team this year. Garry is new to cycling, although has been a supporter of ours on previous challenges, and this year has decided it is time to take the saddle and join the team, cycling each day putting in as many miles as he can. Just like Kev and Glyn, Cancer has been part of Garry's life for far too long and he recently lost a good friend to the disease and has other friends currently fighting cancer. So Garry's statement is 'support the fat lad' and the two veterans at this and lets raise as much as we can.
This event is for a very deserving charity and as you can see, one which is extremely close to all our hearts.
The guys will be supported by the A Team- Phil (Kev's best mate who supported him through the Rome to Home) and Elaine (Glyn's partner).
The 3 Day Challenge:
The 'Triangle Trek of the North' is approximately 400 miles in 3 days:
Day 1 - Wakefield to Whitehaven : 146 miles taking in the famous Whinlatter Pass which winds it way through the Thornthwaite Forest, to a height of 1,043 feet above sea level.
Day 2 - Whitehaven to Tynemouth : 140 miles adopting the Coast to Coast route, a route that celebrates its 20th Anniversary year this year.
Day 3 - Tynemouth to Wakefield : the homebound stretch being the final 120 miles.
We sincerely hope you will be able to support our guys, every little helps and all donations are truly appreciated by ourselves, Cancer Research UK and all those affected by cancer.
