5 years ago my Mum Lellan was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. She successfully underwent a whipple procedure and several painful months of chemotherapy and luckily that was enough to keep the cancer at bay. Last year on 9^th August I held my Mum’s hand as the doctor told her that the cancer was back and that she had 6 to 12 months left to live.  On 7^th November less than 3 months later Mum passed away.

Mum was one of the lucky ones. Early diagnosis and treatment of an incredibly difficult cancer to detect gave us 5 years more. Without the crucial work that Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund provide this would never have been possible. I am so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund and run The Great North Run on 8^th September which would have been Mum’s 69^th birthday.
