On 10 September, the annual Gordon Stokoe memorial bike ride took place in Nottingham. The circular bike ride, stretching 55 miles, consisted of five stages and varied between short, medium and long, with rural, on and off road, and riverside terrain. 

 

Meeting at Holme PierrPoint, the ride started at 10am along the Trent River and headed toward Beeston via canal side. The cyclists were then lead across the city centre to Bestwood, into Sherwood Forest, down to Fiskerton and finally along the river heading back into Holme Pierrpoint.

 

87 riders took part in the event including our service partners and Telereal Trillium central and regional teams.

 

The evening event was held at the West End Cabaret Club in Westbridgeford where Gordon’s partner, Maggie, told of progress and some of the recent work being done by the Gordon Stokoe Trust. After refuelling with a hot buffet and a few beers, everyone took to the dance floor to enjoy the music provided by a Smooth FM DJ.

 

The event has raised £10,593 for eight different charities and Telereal Trillium has agreed to pledge £7,743 as part of the charity matching scheme.
