Story
On 1 August 2020 I’m going to be riding from Gloucester to Newquay in memory of my dad, along with my friends Rick and Nick. I’m also very grateful to have my mates Sam and Clare as the support van drivers. Thanks to all of them for taking time out of their busy lives to join me.
We plan to ride just under 50 miles most days for 5 days and arrive in Newquay on 5th August which would have been my dads 80th Birthday.
The ride -
(1) Gloucester to Portishead- 47 miles
(2) Portishead to Taunton - 49 miles
(3) Taunton to Barnstaple - 51 miles
(4) Barnstaple to Bude. 35 miles
(5) Bude to Newquay - 51 miles.
Why ride to Newquay?
Because it’s the place that we spent all our family holidays every year with our cousins. Dad loved it there, as we all did, and it was a place for the whole family to get together and just be silly. A spiritual home to us all now and it draws us all back every year. So it seems a fitting place to journey to and remember him.
We are riding for the pulmonary fibrosis charity actionpulmonaryfibrosischarity.org.
So any donations will be kindly received to help people currently struggling with this debilitating illness. Let’s turn the years these people have into wellness. Thank you x
Pulmonary fibrosis is a lung disease that occurs when lung tissue becomes damaged and scarred. This thickened, stiff tissue makes it more difficult for your lungs to work properly. As pulmonary fibrosis worsens, you become progressively more short of breath.
The charity we are riding for recognised the need to improve the quality of life for patients with pulmonary fibrosis and IPF (Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis) and funding research.
