The Rothschild Way · 28 June 2014

The Wildlife Trust for Beds, Cambs and Northants works to make our three counties wilder. We manage over 100 nature reserves, monitor habitats and species, work with others to help them manage their land for wildlife, and encourage and inspire people to love and take action for nature close to home.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

On the 28th June 2014, a group of volunteers and Wildlife Trust staff successfully walked the 36 miles from Wicken Fen to Woodwalton Fen along the Rothschild Way, the first time this newly recognised path had been walked, to raise money for the Great Fen. This new footpath is named in honour of Charles Rothschild, a banker and naturalist with connections to both sites who went on to become an important figure in wildlife conservation.

The Great Fen is a major habitat restoration project run by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire. 99% of the fens have been lost and this scheme aims to restore a small piece of this unique and varied landscape. Please check out the website at www.greatfen.org.uk.

A huge 'Thank you' to everyone who has made a donation to date and to the wonderful support team who helped the walkers achieve their goal. You can still donate via this page if you haven't already done so.
